And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12:2 (NKJV)
When the Bible says we need to renew our minds, we often assume it’s speaking of spiritual things. The truth is, God’s Word applies to every area of our lives. God wants us to expand our thinking and to push past the limits we’ve placed on ourselves.
Years ago, my wife Sally and I attended a conference at a large church in the U.S. I had never been inside a church that seated more than 250 people, so once everyone had cleared out, I stepped up on stage to stand behind the pulpit.
As I looked out at the large auditorium, I realized that I had never imagined myself speaking to a congregation that large. I began to wonder, “Could Canada have a church this big? Could we pastor a church this size? What would it take?”
Looking back, I can see that Holy Spirit was working in me, and He continued to expand my thinking over the months and years that followed. Today my wife and I pastor one of the largest interdenominational churches in Canada, and it all started with a new thought, a new vision, then a team of people who shared that vision and were willing to carry out a new plan of action with us.
God wants to expand the way you think about your relationships, your finances, your career, your home life, your friends, and every other area of your life. He has new, expanded dreams for you, and if you’re open to it, He will show them to you and help you make them happen!
