Open Your Heart To Love

Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. 1 John 4:15-16 (NKJV)

You were created to be loved by God.

If you have a pet, that love doesn’t replace the love of a human being. God has given us this beautiful ability to enjoy the world, including animals, and there’s nothing wrong with that. However, you will still crave someone to talk to and to share your hopes and dreams with. And just as the love of an animal can’t replace the love of a person, nothing else can fulfill your need for God’s love in your life.

When we aren’t aware of or aren’t confident in God’s love, we tend to end up hurting the people we love because they don’t give us what we think we need. Meanwhile, what we’re craving is a love that they never can supply.

If you don’t feel a connection to God’s love, working to remedy that needs to be your top priority. It’s not a matter of earning His love or working it up. That love has been freely given to you, but He’s waiting for you to believe it and receive it! He needs your response; God never forces things on you. When you make this choice, an awareness of His love comes into your life—an awareness that grows as you study His Word and spend time in His presence.

Spend some quiet time with Him, asking Him to help you to become more aware of this never-ending flow of love that is being poured out on you every day, and you’ll also find yourself pouring this love out on others!
