Spending Time With God

Leon Fontaine Devoted

You have made known to me the ways of life; You will enrapture me [diffusing my soul with joy] with and in Your presence. Acts 2:28 (AMPC)

God is with us all of the time. However, we are not always aware of His presence. If I am sitting alone in a crowded restaurant, a very good friend might be sitting at a table behind me but unless I turn around, I am unaware of his presence. I am not going to laugh or communicate with him or get to know him better unless my senses are pointed in his direction.

It’s the same with God. To spend time with Him, I have to turn my senses toward Him. When you put your focus on Him, you become aware of His presence. That awareness can grow—you can take it with you throughout your day.

God is with you at all times—but are you increasing in your awareness of Him? It’s really quite simple and you can spend time with God all throughout your day.

The next time you feel overwhelmed, turn your attention toward sensing God’s presence.

The Bible says in Psalm 16:11(AMP) “You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy, at Your right hand there are pleasures forevermore.” When you turn your attention toward God often, it becomes habit—a habit that brings lasting joy. You will be able to set aside your concerns and enjoy your relationships. And it’s a beautiful way to live!
