Time To Break Those Chains

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13 (NKJV)

Our thoughts have a huge influence on our lives.

As Proverbs 23:7 says, our thinking determines how we live. And as Isaiah 55:8-9 says, God’s thoughts are higher than our thoughts. We need to choose to give up our present way of thinking and take on God’s way of thinking.

If our thinking is limited, we will live out those limitations. In years gone by, people used to train circus elephants starting when they were just babies. They would tie a chain around the elephant’s little foot and drive a stake deep in the ground. The poor little elephant would struggle and pull against that chain until it was exhausted, day after day, until it finally gave up. Something inside that little elephant’s brain would click, and it would decide that the chain around its foot was unbreakable.

Once the elephant was full-grown, that little chain attached to a stake in the ground didn’t stand a chance to hold it, yet the elephant wouldn’t even try to break free. The elephant would live out its days limited by a little rope attached to a stake in the ground because of the limitations that had been formed in its mind at a young age.

The same can be true of us, but we have the power to break free. We can renew our minds using the Word of God, and push past any limiting thoughts that have been holding us back.

Have you accepted certain limitations on your potential? It’s time to break free from those chains, because you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you!
