For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink into one Spirit. 1 Corinthians 12:12 (NKJV)
What is your calling? What gifts has God provided you that He wants you to use for the Kingdom?
We’ve been on a series in this devotional talking about some of the benefits Holy Spirit brings to our lives. According to today’s verse, Holy Spirit also places each of us in the body of Christ.
If you’ve been struggling with this idea of having a calling, I want to reassure you. Your calling in life doesn’t have to be something grandiose like moving to Africa to feed the hungry, and you aren’t limited to only one calling in life.
We often overcomplicate this idea of being called, but all that it really means is that Holy Spirit empowers you to play a part (or several parts) as a member of the body of Christ. It’s one of the benefits He provides us.
All of us have a need to feel like we belong. No matter what your gifts are, you DO belong…in the body of Christ. No one part is more important than another. Your set of gifts might enable you to be a pastor, be on a worship team or pray for others. Then again, you might be great with business and love financing the gospel, you may bake the best pies, be awesome at gardening or have a gift for making people laugh. Every contribution is equally important!
Your Father God has placed gifts in you for a reason, and you can choose to step out, to continually grow your skills in that area, and use those gifts to benefit the Kingdom.
