Because of Christ and our faith in him, we can now come boldly and confidently into God’s presence. Ephesians 3:12 (NLT)
Many people discount the incredible value of prayer. But I find it mind-blowing that we can have an audience with God any time we want.
By comparison, can you imagine trying to get an audience with the Queen of England? It probably wouldn’t happen. You could try every possible tactic and still be denied the opportunity to speak to your favourite actor or a famous singer, too.
You see, the greater the responsibility and influence that a person carries, the harder it is for them to hang onto any free time. So, few of us hold the privilege of speaking to important people with hectic schedules.
That’s what makes prayer so phenomenal. When we pray, we enjoy direct access to the Creator of the entire universe. We hold a privilege beyond all privileges—we can speak directly to God Himself. Not only that, He wants us to because He craves spending time with us.
In the Old Testament, friends of the king held incredible power. Many people held positions of authority, but the words of a friend in the king’s ears could change the course of a nation. In fact, many countries have gone to war—or avoided conflict and maintained peace—because of someone whispering in the king’s ear.
As believers, we enjoy bold, confident access to God. Don’t look at prayer as some feeble act reserved for people with nothing better to do. It’s a powerful, precious honour to speak with God and effectively change things in this world.
You have the ear of the King!
