A CAUSE WORTH FIGHTING FOR

June 10, 2022

And David said...“Is there not a cause?” 1 Samuel 17:29 (NKJV)

When circumstances push against you, do you know what will get your eyes off your own limitations and tiredness? A cause.

Let me show you something from the story of David and Goliath you may not have considered. When this teenaged shepherd arrived on the battlefield, he found the Israelite army shaking in their boots as a Philistine giant taunted them. David’s response was, “Is there not a cause?” He couldn’t believe God’s people were cowering in fear when there was something worth fighting for.

Now picture the reaction as David walked out to face Goliath by himself when none of the mighty warriors would dare to fight him. These men had become inactive and indecisive—which is a precursor to cowardice. And when someone rises up and does something courageous, it always bothers the cowards. I can imagine these soldiers muttering amongst themselves, “Look at that kid. Who does he think he is? He won’t last a minute out there.”

Have you ever noticed that all through the Bible, the crowd is never right? If you’re up against a giant in your life, choose not to listen to the crowd. Don’t try to get their consensus on what you should do. For example, let’s say you’re trying to start a business. Some people will want to give you all the gloomy stats about how many start-ups fail within their first year. But you’re the one living this out.

Decide to get up, exercise your faith and follow God’s lead, even if it goes against the crowd. There is a calling on your life to do great things for God’s Kingdom! Like David, you can be courageous—and with God’s strength in you, you can slay giants.
