A New Look at Being Christ-Like

January 10, 2022

His head and His hair were like white wool, [as white] as snow, and His eyes [flashed] like a flame of fire. His feet glowed like a burnished (bright) bronze as it is refined in the furnace, and His voice was like the sound of many waters. Revelation 1:14-15 (AMPC)

I believe that if Jesus walked the planet today, He wouldn’t be accepted by many Christians because He would not be what is widely considered “Christ-like.” As silly as that seems—Christ being unlike Christ—it’s true!

We often picture Jesus as being loving, peaceful and patient, and He certainly did embody those characteristics. However, we ignore His confidence, inspiring leadership, team building skills, undeterred passion and unparalleled ability to impact the world. We see Him as a timid flower-power kind of rabbi. But as we read in our verse today, John describes the risen Jesus very differently.

Jesus was a brilliant leader. He was able to understand the heart behind people’s actions and was willing to confront wrong even when it required Him to stand up to powerful religious leaders. We tend to think He was meek and mild, but Jesus would have had no trouble stepping up to lead any nation. He knew who He was.

I want to be like Jesus. Jesus was leadership personified. He was ever growing, changing, strategizing, creating and thinking. He is all the things you need to do what you need to do.

Jesus is your example. He shows you who you can be. Getting to know Him gives you an internal picture of who you can be—a world changer. Build your relationship with Jesus and you will become more like Him every day.
