Align Yourself with God’s Promises

October 11, 2021

Then he took the seven loaves and the fish, thanked God for them, and broke them into pieces. He gave them to the disciples, who distributed the food to the crowd. Matthew 15:36 (NLT)

Many think that miracles are up to God, and you never quite know if He’ll grant your requests. But when God adds His supernatural ability to your efforts, it’s not by chance. It is the result of aligning your heart with, and making use of, what God has already made available to you.

One key to walking in the supernatural is thankfulness. In Matthew 15, Jesus performed an amazing miracle. A crowd that numbered into the thousands had followed Jesus far into the countryside to listen to Him preach. He had been preaching for some time and the people were hungry, but all the disciples could manage to scrounge up were seven loaves and a few fish.

What’s interesting is that Jesus held up the little He had before His Father God and thanked Him for it before the miracle happened.

Being thankful within the situation you’re in today opens your heart to what God wants to do.

Remember that I’m not saying you have to be thankful for the bad situation. God doesn’t bring bad situations our way, so you don’t need to thank Him for them. Even in the midst of hard times, you can always find something to be thankful for (1 Thessalonians 5:18).

Each day, take time to count your blessings. When you’re tempted to complain, talk about something good that’s going on in your life. Start a journal and write down something you’re thankful for every day. As you change your focus, you will begin to develop a thankful heart that opens the door to the supernatural.
