So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most. Hebrews 4:16 (NLT)
Do you often feel unworthy to approach God?
If you’ve given your life to Christ, you have the nature of God inside you. This empowers you to make great choices, but you’re not perfect. Like the rest of us, you sometimes make wrong choices. When you do, you need to know that your relationship with God is secure.
The reason your relationship with God is secure despite your mess-ups is because Jesus has secured it. You didn’t earn this relationship, so you can’t un-earn it. Jesus fulfilled every requirement, and accepting what He’s done for you gives you free access to God, His strength and His blessings.
There is never a time when you are unworthy to approach God. Hebrews 4:16 says that you can come to Him boldly. No matter what, He’s always forgiving and He’s always willing to help.
If you’ve been having condemning thoughts about yourself, realize that these don’t line up with God’s Word. You can live your life free of shame and condemnation.
I’m not saying that sin doesn’t have consequences. Of course, it does, but these consequences don’t come from God. He isn’t angry with you when you mess up and He loves you unconditionally. If you’ve accepted Jesus, God continually forgives and forgets your failures. You may be a work in progress, but you’re loved, accepted and forgiven.
Keep going to God when you mess up and when you’re tempted to do wrong. This is how you win the fight, not by trying to do everything perfectly on your own strength.
