Are You on the Right Path?

October 24, 2021

You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. Psalm 139:16 (NLT)

When I was a boy, my grandparents owned a ranch in the foothills of Alberta. When visiting, my brothers and I would spend hours riding our bikes in the pasture, avoiding rocks and brush by staying on the paths made by cows. Although the paths meandered around the pasture and didn’t seem to lead anywhere, they did. The problem was that they didn’t take me where I wanted to go.

Everyone is on a path in life. Some seem to meander through life, and although they do not seem to have a destination, they do. Their choices lead them somewhere and it may not be where they want to go.

Others pay little attention to their path because they do not realize that it is within their power to affect their future. They believe in a mysterious force called fate that controls their life. They think that if something is meant to be, it will happen.

The Bible does not confirm a belief in fate. It teaches that God has a destiny for you. Fate implies that you are grabbed by the collar and dragged kicking and screaming into your future. God’s destiny is never forced on you. It is a preplanned path that you can choose to follow... and it leads you to the most productive, joy-filled and amazing life you can imagine.

What will you choose today?
