May grace (God’s favor) and peace (which is perfect well-being, all necessary good, all spiritual prosperity, and freedom from fears and agitating passions and moral conflicts) be multiplied to you… 2 Peter 1:2 (AMPC)
If you’re struggling to know God’s peace, how do you find it?
One important way is to ensure your beliefs align with what His Word says. You see, our beliefs affect everything. They attract and connect the dots of our lives. Let’s say deep down you’re convinced God doesn’t love you because of what you’ve done. That belief has consequences that will impact everything from your relationship with God to your self-esteem, life goals, who you marry and how you raise your kids.
Our beliefs hold incredible power! We must get them right so that we don’t struggle against “agitating passions and moral conflicts” and can enjoy God’s peace to the fullest.
Internal peace comes when our beliefs accurately mirror the truth found in God’s Word. For instance, if you believe false religious teaching that you’re just a dirty sinner who constantly disappoints God, you won’t experience His peace. In fact, that misbelief will cause you to withdraw from God or reject Him altogether.
But imagine the transformation that happens internally as you believe and accept what God really thinks about you. The more you realize that He values you beyond your wildest dreams, regardless of your mistakes, the more something changes on the inside of you. When you get a revelation that you are righteous through Jesus (Romans 5:1) and that He wants a personal relationship with you, you live in God’s incredible peace that is inside you.
If you’re struggling to know peace or freedom from fear in an area, double-check your heart. Does it believe what God says?
