Do you ever feel like you can’t talk to God?

Maybe you’ve done a few things you’re not proud of or you haven’t been putting much effort into your relationship with God, so deep down you feel unworthy to even talk to Him.

Many people feel this way. Some react by trying to pull up their socks, spiritually speaking. They think that if they can just live up to a certain standard, they’ll finally feel like they have the right to ask God for help. To try to earn the right to pray or come to church, they go to work trying to clean up their lives. The problem is that this is a completely backward way of looking at things.

In fact, trying to improve yourself to earn God’s approval never works! This approach just makes you more focused on everything you’re doing wrong. And when you focus on something, you end up doing it even more!

God wants you to come to Him as you are. He doesn’t expect you to earn a relationship with Him. He sent Jesus to die in your place to earn that relationship for you. When you make Jesus your Lord, you are instantly made right with God. You also get access to the power you need to change, grow and become the person you’ve always wanted to be.

You can pray boldly and receive the help you need because you are in God’s family. In fact, He’s already given you everything you need! He also wants to be close to you, so come as you are with all your messes and imperfections. Spend time with Him and you’ll access His grace, strength and power to overcome.
