At Home in God’s Love

May 28, 2021

May Christ through your faith [actually] dwell (settle down, abide, make His permanent home) in your hearts! May you be rooted deep in love and founded securely on love. Ephesians 3:17 (AMPC)

If you ask any believer whether God loves them, most would say yes. But many of us add conditions to that statement. We think He loves us, but He'll allow sickness or disaster into our lives to teach us.

Think about that for a minute. As a parent, you would never press your daughter's hand to a hot stovetop to teach her not to touch it. That's not discipline, that's abuse. Yet some people believe that's what God is like, so they become afraid to let Him into their lives.

In Ephesians 3, Paul prayed that you and I would understand and experience God's perfect love for us. This prayer changed my life. Instead of worrying that God was going to make me suffer, I began to believe that He was in love with me just like His Word says! I realized that He's never the one behind any storm I face, but that He's always working for my good.

Each of us has a deep need to get our hearts rooted in the grace and love of God. The world is full of people who have no idea how much they're loved. They're walking through life not knowing where to anchor their souls.

Ephesians 3:17 (AMPC) says, “May Christ through your faith [actually] dwell (settle down, abide, make His permanent home) in your hearts!” As you get into the Word and realize just how much God loves you, His love makes itself at home in your heart. It heals the wounds from your past, mends your relationships and brings you incredible peace and security. Recognize today that you are loved!
