Called to Rise Up

July 4, 2021

The Lord has given them special skills as engravers, designers, embroiderers in blue, purple, and scarlet thread on fine linen cloth, and weavers. They excel as craftsmen and as designers. Exodus 35:35 (NLT)

Did you know the first example of a Spirit-filled person we find in the Word was a tradesman? When God gave Moses instructions for creating the Tabernacle, God specifically wanted a man named Bezalel on the building team. Exodus 35:31 (NLT) says, “The Lord has filled Bezalel with the Spirit of God, giving him great wisdom, ability, and expertise in all kinds of crafts.”

Wherever you are and whatever you do, God wants you to rise up in your area of giftedness. If you’re in business, for instance, people ought to brag that you’re the most amazing boss around. If you’re in healthcare, every patient ought to sense the peace and presence of God when they interact with you. And the purpose of this excellence isn’t only for you to prosper. It’s to build God’s Kingdom!

You see, you’ll never convince someone to follow Jesus by debating with them. According to God’s Word, we are to show people how amazing the life of a believer can be. Show them what a long-term marriage and thriving family looks like. Show them what it’s like to grow a great business without sacrificing your health and relationships. Let them see what it’s like to live with purpose and passion.

As you develop your skills and tap into the power of Holy Spirit, you’ll be the salt and light in your community. People will begin to see something different about you. They’ll recognize the blessing of God on your life—and they’ll want what you have.

What better way to introduce someone to Jesus?
