Catch a Second Wind

June 21, 2021

Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2 (NKJV)

Challenges in life are like marathon races. Every marathon runner knows that physical training is essential, but there’s also a mental aspect to the race. When they reach the point when pain kicks in, it takes mental strength to get past that wall. Everything in them wants to give up.

However, they also know that if they can just stick with it and keep running through that difficult phase of the race, they will begin to run freely again. It will get easier if they just keep going. They’ll make it to the finish.

If you’re facing a tough time in your life, you need to push on and believe it’s going to get better.

Hebrews 12:2 says that Jesus is the author and the finisher of your faith. Sometimes we have an easier time seeing Him as the author… He created us and He has plans for our lives. However, do you see Him as a finisher as well? He has an ideal plan for your life that you can choose to follow, but He’s also with you every step of the way to see that plan to its finish.

God’s plans stretch us in every way possible, but He knows we can’t follow them without Him. He is the author and the finisher. He’s with you at the start, through it all and right up to the finish. With that knowledge, push through difficulties and trust that your second wind is coming.
