Behold, You desire truth in the inner being; make me therefore to know wisdom in my inmost heart. Psalm 51:6 (AMPC)
If you want to touch lives and experience God’s best, you need to realize that it’s not about moving frantically from goal to goal in life. It’s all about what’s going on within you.
There’s nothing wrong with setting goals and going after them. In fact, you need to do this for every area of your life. But these goals shouldn’t just be about your external world. If they are, you’ll be chasing goals all your life and will feel like you’re never getting anywhere.
For example, peace will be elusive if it’s just an external goal you chase by trying to control everything in your world to make it less stressful. De-stress your life, but true peace comes from the inside.
Even in stressful situations, you can walk in peace because you are empowered to as a believer. You may still feel angry or anxious at first, but you don’t have to choose to let those feelings rule you. Instead, tell God how you feel and ask Him to help you to stay in control of your feelings. Ask for His wisdom in what to do. If it’s something you can’t do anything about, ask for His help in letting it go and trust Him to take care of the situation.
You can choose peace. Jesus said in John 14:27 that He has given us His peace. Philippians 4:6 says to pray about what worries you and to be thankful. Romans 8:6 says to keep your mind fixed on Holy Spirit. Over time as you make these choices, peace will become a more natural state for you.
