Let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Romans 12:2 (NLT)
Do you know anyone who is always up and happy? With a person like this, the smile never seems to leave their face, no matter what. You may know others who are even-keeled at all times. Even when everyone around them is in a panic, they remain calm and in control.
On the other side of the spectrum, some people always seem frustrated and angry. Others continually feel sad, anxious or flustered, even when things seem to be going well in the world.
How do moods become so habitual? Like any other habit, habitual moods are developed over time. And, like any other habit, they can be broken.
Many will argue that they cannot help the way they are. They truly believe that they have little to no control over how they feel. Unfortunately, this deception causes them to develop excuses for their behaviour instead of looking for ways to improve it.
We’re deceived if we believe that we’re unable to change habitual moods. You are not the habits you developed. Your habitual moods are only one part of you, and they are malleable. You can choose to constantly change, grow and become more of the ‘you’ that you were created to be.
Life is too short to let a mood control you. No matter what you’re going through, you can choose to bring your focus back to what you’re grateful for. Choose to love life—it’s never too late to form new habits and take control of your moods.
