Do You Feel Unworthy of Love?

August 22, 2021

And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Ephesians 3:18-19 (NLT)

Do you struggle with believing you’re worthy of love?

Growing up as a pastor’s son, we had many visiting ministers and leaders stay in our home. Witnessing their spiritual gifts and incredible preaching abilities impressed me. However, even with a strong faith in God, I struggled to see that God loved me as much as He loved those gifted pastors and leaders. Now, if you’re not sure what you believe, there is a place to find the truth—God’s Word.

So, I challenged my misbelief through meditation in God’s Word. I discovered God is just as in love with me as He is the next guy! (See Romans 8:37-39, 1 John 4:9-10, 1 John 3:1.) You see, the more truths we mine out of His Word, the more our heart beliefs can begin to line up with what God says.

In Ephesians 3:14-21, the Apostle Paul’s prayer is that we would know God’s love and experience the fullness of His incredible grace through Jesus. You see, God’s love isn’t like ordinary, broken human love—it’s infinitely more vibrant, deeper, and exploding with life and power. It’s so pure and intense that Paul says Jesus’ love is beyond our comprehension.

You don’t need to keep trying to be worthy of love. Simply begin to recognize that God loves you. He deems you worthy. God gave everything He had just to have a relationship with you. He went to hell and back for you. God believes you’re 100% worth it, and He loves you beyond measure.
