“The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.” Mark 12:31 (NLT)
How do you feel about yourself? Sadly, some people look in the mirror and see only what’s wrong with them. In a room full of people, they feel like they don’t belong. This leads to pain in relationships as they try to pull from others what’s missing inside them.
If you can relate, I want to show you something in God’s Word that will set you free.
Jesus said one of the most important commandments is to love your neighbour as yourself. Your ability to love others cannot exceed the love you have for yourself. If you want your relationships to thrive, you need to get a healthy view of your own self-worth. How do you do that?
By understanding God’s love for you and loving Him! I encourage you to read the Word as a love letter from God to you. Look for what He says about you. As your Creator, He’s the expert on you!
God says you are uniquely designed (Psalm 139:13–14) and made in His own image (Genesis 1:27). He rejoices over you with singing (Zephaniah 3:17). He cares about you so much that He even knows how many hairs are on your head (Luke 12:7). Nothing can ever separate you from His passionate love for you (Romans 8:31–39)!
As you marinate in the love of God, the Word begins to change your picture of who you are, and old insecurities will fall away. Confidence and peace rise within you, and your relationships begin to flourish as you are able to offer a deeper, more secure love to others. Today, ask God to help you see yourself the way He does.
