FOLLOW-THE-LEADER

Come after Me [as disciples—letting Me be your Guide], follow Me… Matthew 4:19 (AMPC)

Have you ever played follow-the-leader? If you’re the follower, you follow the leader’s every move, right? When the leader turns right, you turn right. When the leader stops, you stop. Would you still be following if you decided to turn left when the leader turned right?

Many say they are following Jesus, but really they want to do their own thing. Without thinking, they lead their lives their own way or they think, “Well, I know that Jesus wouldn’t have done what I’m about to do, but He’ll understand.” Jesus does understand, but that doesn’t mean it’s best to do things your way. You may think it will make you happy, but it won’t last.

If you don’t follow Jesus, you will also miss the incredible opportunity to closely follow the greatest mentor to ever live. You have the chance to build a relationship with Jesus. You can become more like Him. Think about that! Wouldn’t you want to be more like the most powerful, loving and influential person to ever walk the planet?

Choosing to follow Jesus isn’t hard. Actually, it simplifies your life. When you follow His lead, many of life’s decisions become obvious. You make them by consulting His Word and His principles, but most of all you develop a relationship with Him so you can talk to Him and get Him involved in your decisions every day.

Choosing to follow Jesus is the biggest decision you can make after giving your life to Him. In choosing to follow Him, you make Him not only your Saviour—who gains you eternity in Heaven—but also your Lord, the leader of your life. Your life will never be the same!
