Get Specific

March 3, 2022

“What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked. Mark 10:51 (NLT)

When it comes to your future, what are you trusting God to do specifically?

Believing that God will use you in general is great. But it’s too vague. It’s a bigger leap of faith to believe for something in particular to happen.

In Mark 10, Jesus asked the blind man, Bartimaeus, to be specific about what he wanted Jesus to do. You also need to be specific about what you want Him to do in your life.

Don’t allow yourself to stay stuck in any area. It’s time to dream and reach for something greater. I’m not saying that you can’t ever retire from your job, but if you do, you need to let Holy Spirit develop a new dream in you. When you retire, you can re-fire for God!

Remember that no matter what stage of life you are in, God has a job for you to do. Get involved in your church and tap into the vision of your leaders. You might begin to encourage young mothers at a ladies’ Bible study or take the time to get to know new people after church. Volunteer to read to children at your local elementary school. If you are housebound, join a prayer chain. Just be available to share the wisdom you have gained over the years to challenge and inspire the next generation.

If you have been stagnant for a while, don’t allow yourself to feel condemned, but let this devotional nudge you on. Develop specific dreams—and don’t ever forget that you are a King’s kid who’s been called to inherit His blessings so you can be a blessing everywhere you go.
