God Doesn't Want You to Settle

September 29, 2021
Be careful then, dear brothers and sisters. Make sure that your own hearts are not evil and unbelieving, turning you away from the living God. Hebrews 3:12 (NLT)

God wants you to do more than settle in life. He wants you to believe for His best—what He’s promised you. He doesn’t want unbelief to limit you, as it did with the Israelites on their way to their Promised Land (Hebrews 3:19).

God wanted the Israelites to have a place they could call home—a place where they could rise to become a tremendous nation. The desert wasn’t His best for them, yet they camped there for forty years. The Israelites didn’t experience God’s promise because they didn’t believe they could.

God wants more for you. He wants you to fulfil your dreams and not to settle for second best. Religious beliefs will try to limit you by making you feel small. They will try to make you feel guilty for wanting to do something great with your life. But it’s important to differentiate between greatness and selfishness.

You see, you can rise up to be the best in your field. You can make more income and have more influence in the world than you’ve dreamed possible. There’s nothing wrong with any of it…if your heart is right. It all depends on your motives—why you want what you want. If your dreams are purely self-serving, they will bring destruction to other areas of your life. But if you put God first and tie your dreams to His grand purpose for your life—to be a blessing and to bring others into His family—you can enjoy His best while making an incredible impact on this world for Him.

We all struggle with doubt at times, but don’t allow anything to limit you from experiencing God’s best.
