God Loves you

October 4, 2021

For here is the way God loved the world—he gave his one and only, unique Son as a gift. So now everyone who believes in him will never perish but experience everlasting life. John 3:16 (TPT)

I used to struggle with the word “love.”

It’s not that I didn’t love people. It’s just that when I thought of love, I thought of mushy, gushy, romantic love. As a result, the thought of loving my neighbour seemed strange to me.

What really helped me to understand this powerful word was when I realized that loving someone really means that you value them.

When you value something, it’s precious to you and you look after it. Someone who values his car spends a lot of time and effort making sure it’s in top shape and looks great. A husband who values his wife spends time with her. He takes care of her. She’s precious to him.

This is how God feels about you. You need to realize how much God values you so you can choose to love others, everywhere you go.

Some people were raised to believe they are nothing to God, but that’s not what the Bible says! God so loved us that He gave His only Son! Realize how much God values you. He’s like a dad whose face lights up the moment you enter the room. He believes in you. He knows the potential you have and He has prepared blessings for you to walk in. He cares about you so much that He even knows how many hairs are on your head!

God loves you. Keep this realization in your heart and begin to walk in love, knowing you are loved and that you’re empowered to show love to others.
