The amazing life that God wants you to have starts inside you. As Christians, we tend to pray about external things: “God fix my body, my family, my spouse, my business.” But God works in our lives from the inside out.
Today’s verses teach that when you ask God to get involved in the areas of your life where you haven’t yet reached your potential, He doesn’t take over. He works within you deeply and gently. As a result of that inner work, He enables you to reach your full potential.
God’s plans for your life will be realized from the inside out. Are you letting Him do that inner work?
God does His inner work within you by altering what you believe. As you read His Word, you’ll learn the truth. This truth then shapes your beliefs, challenging old mindsets and planting new ones into your heart. As these new beliefs build strength in you, your life begins to change from the inside out.
It’s okay to pray about external things—we need to pray for others. But realize that most of the change that happens in your personal life needs to take place inside you before it will ever manifest itself in your external world. When you have a need in your life, ask God to work within you. Ask Him to help you change what you believe as you read His Word.
