It’s Yours!

March 8, 2022

This is the reason I urge you to boldly believe for whatever you ask for in prayer—be convinced that you have received it and it will be yours. Mark 11:24 (TPT)

It is crucial to believe that what we pray for is a done deal.

Now, we can’t force others to do what we want through prayer. But when we pray in faith for ourselves with an understanding of what Jesus accomplished through the cross, it’s a sure thing.

I remember one guy telling me that he didn’t need to bother praying because God already knew what he needed. I replied, “Yes, God does know. So, why aren’t you getting everything you need?” He admitted he didn’t know why. I responded, “Because you still need to pray!”

That’s like understanding you need food to survive but not buying any because the grocery store knows you need to eat. Your role still requires action.

I also want to point out something crucial about today’s verse. The first half—“believe whatever you ask for in prayer”—is present tense. But the second half—convinced that “it will be yours”—is future tense. Future tense requires vision and expectation.

Let’s say you order something from your favourite store. It’s fully stocked, so placing your order means that product is as good as yours. Even though you don’t have it yet, you’re fully confident it’s on the way. You know it will get packaged up, shipped and delivered to your mailbox. You expect it will arrive without question.

That’s how we can approach prayers of faith as well. Through Jesus, we hold the authority and privilege to declare what’s ours in His name. Even before you have received, stand firm in faith and know that it’s yours.
