Then Elisha prayed, “O Lord, open his eyes and let him see!” The Lord opened the young man’s eyes, and when he looked up, he saw that the hillside around Elisha was filled with horses and chariots of fire. 2 Kings 6:17 (NLT)
Is God supernaturally at work in your everyday life? The answer is yes! However, we’re often blind to it—even when it’s right in front of us.
Second Kings 6:8-23 tells the story of Elisha’s servant experiencing this firsthand. When the servant got up one morning, he discovered an enemy army had surrounded their city overnight.
Terrified, he ran to tell Elisha, who asked God to open the servant’s eyes. Suddenly, the servant could see that God’s angelic army surrounded them with protection.
Like Elisha’s servant, we often don’t realize what’s happening in the supernatural. The neighbour kid might grow up and decide to run for prime minister. But because we didn’t see him prophesied over in church, we might fail to recognize his God-given leadership gifts that would lead our nation in a great direction.
We might overlook how one great movie can present Christ and provoke thousands of people to read the Bible. A world-famous singer might talk about his faith in Jesus during an interview, and even though his song lyrics may not mention God, that interview can turn thousands toward exploring Christianity.
In your own life, you may have no idea how your integrity at work is changing a co-worker’s mind about Christianity, or how your kindness influenced someone to check out church. Keep your eyes of faith open. God is at work right in front of you!
