Last Words

October 20, 2021

I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all the truth; John 16:12-13 (NKJV)

If I knew it were my last days on earth, I would want to say something to every person I love—something they would never forget. I would especially want to talk to my children, to leave them with words that would help and inspire them to live their lives to the fullest with Jesus.

You learn what is of the utmost importance to people by the words they choose in their last moments on Earth.

In John 14-16, we find the conversation Jesus had with His disciples just before He died. Jesus knew that His time on earth was coming to an end and He needed to leave His disciples with final instructions.

Jesus chose this time to tell His disciples of Holy Spirit—which tells us how important this message was to Him. He gave them information about how to recognize Holy Spirit, what Holy Spirit would do for them, and what He would be like. In His physical absence, they needed to learn to be led by Holy Spirit in order to carry out His call.

In fact, He strictly commanded them not to go out without Holy Spirit, but to wait in Jerusalem for Him to arrive.

Do you let Holy Spirit lead you? Talk to Him today as you read your Bible and involve Him in the decisions you make throughout your day.
