LET’S TALK ABOUT BOUNDARIES

September 5, 2022

“I tell you the truth, whatever you forbid on earth will be forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven.” Matthew 18:18 (NLT)

God wants us to build boundaries that mirror Heaven in every area of our lives. Why? Because boundaries—stored in our hearts as beliefs—protect us from destructive lies and misbeliefs. So, how do we build boundaries? Through the words we speak. Our words wield power because once we believe something, our hearts enforce it.

If you believe you’ll always struggle to make ends meet, your heart will begin to accept the misbelief that your future holds constant financial hardship. The more your heart becomes convinced of something, the more that belief hardens into a boundary. That’s why we must declare what is and isn’t accepted in our lives.

Today’s verse even gives us direction and authority on what to allow or refuse. If it’s in Heaven, then declare, “Permission granted!” What’s permitted in Heaven? Joy, peace, love, friendship—everything fantastic. What is forbidden in Heaven? Sickness, strife, jealousy, selfishness—everything negative.

Speaking and believing God’s Word works to build unshakeable heart beliefs. So, when Satan tries to cross those established boundaries with a spirit of sickness or attack your mind with lies, he’ll hit the brick wall of your beliefs. The more you know your rights and authority in Christ, the more readily you’ll say, “No, I am not accepting sickness,” or, “No, I refuse to believe that lack of finances will keep this project from going to the next level. I declare it will in Jesus’ name, and He’s going to show me how.” What’s on the inside counts more than you realize!
