Lies About the Heart of God

December 29, 2021

And bring the fatted calf here and kill it, and let us eat and be merry; for this my son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found. Luke 15:23-24 (NKJV)

Over the last few days, we’ve been talking about the heart of God. One thing you need to be aware of is that Satan doesn’t want you to realize how much God loves you.

The devil is always trying to plant lies in your mind. This is especially true when you’re going through a hard time. You’ll find yourself thinking, “I must have done something wrong,” or “God must be punishing me.” These thoughts can get in the way of you asking God to help you in times of trouble.

If believers experience heartache because of some sort of sin in their lives, it’s even worse. Often they think that they’re on their own—that God isn’t going to help them because they’ve messed up or disobeyed Him. But that’s not His way! The parable of the prodigal son makes this clear. Even though the prodigal son blatantly rejected his father and blew all of his inheritance on sinful activities, the father welcomed him back with open arms!

Satan wants you to make a mistake so he can attack you with judgment. He wants you to believe that God has stopped loving you and that other believers won't accept you. That way, he can isolate you and attack you with more lies.

This is why getting into God’s Word is so vital. As you study the Word of God, it attacks wrong heart beliefs and legalistic thinking, and you begin to discover that you are loved and accepted by God. He will always be there for you to help you build an amazing life.
