Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13:13 (NLT)
To make right choices in life, you need a foundation of love.
To be able to love others, for example, it’s important to remind yourself daily of God’s promise that He loves you. The more you accept that truth, the more you can walk in it every day. His love empowers you to love others.
Choosing to trust in God’s love is one of the most important choices. When you’re rooted in His love for you, you’ll trust that God’s promises are always accessible to you. As an example, you won’t hesitate to pray and believe for healing because you know God wants you to be healed.
This is one reason why our verse today says that love is the greatest. In order to have hope, you need to realize how loved you are. The more you realize how incredibly loved you are, the more hope you have that He will always come through for you.
Love is also the beginning of faith. As you stay focused on how loved you are and you keep building hope, that hope turns to faith—a confident expectation. If you ever get discouraged, reconnecting with how much God loves you can bring back hope and faith.
You need to believe that God loves and values you. Open yourself up to His love every day of your life. Keep reminding yourself that He loves you. Then, as your heart begins to really believe it, you will find it easier to walk in every promise God has for you.
