Love Needs Hope

August 29, 2021

Its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening]. 1 Corinthians 13:7 (AMPC)

To have a healthy, loving relationship with someone, hope is a requirement. Without hope, the relationship cannot survive.

Having no hope has to be one of the worst feelings in the world. In fact, a complete lack of hope is what drives people to commit suicide. But the good news is that you can do something about it if your hope is beginning to fade in your relationships.

You see, hope is something that needs to be nurtured and protected so it will remain no matter the circumstance.

You nurture hope by choosing your focus. If you focus on issues and problems, they will consume your life and extinguish hope. However, the Bible says if your eye is single, then your whole body is full of light (Matthew 6:22, KJV). In other words, if you continue to stay focused on what brings you hope, however small, soon that hope will take over.

You can focus on all the good in a person and you can also focus on God’s promises. God has promised to “perfect that which concerns” you (Psalm 138:8, NKJV). He also said that as you “take delight” in your relationship with Him, He will “give you your heart’s desires” (Psalm 37:4, NLT). When you focus on these promises, hope returns. This hope leads to faith, and faith sees the promise through.

The way to enjoy a fantastic life filled with great relationships, joy, laughter, hope and fulfilled dreams is to choose your focus. So…what will you focus on today?
