MAGNIFYING GOD

July 20, 2022

Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together. Psalm 34:3 (NKJV)

Over the last week, we've been studying what it means to wait on God. It's not sitting back passively or thinking that God is withholding an answer to your prayers. Waiting on Him means getting into faith.

When we go through a difficult situation, we tend to be focused on the problem at hand. We're on high alert, waiting for the other shoe to drop. But you and I are self-fulfilling prophets. What we focus on, we magnify in our lives. That's why it's crucial for us to guard our focus.

Years ago, Sally bought a magnifying glass. The kids loved using it hunt little bugs and make them look massive. I've noticed that we often look at our problems the same way. The trouble is, when you stare at something and magnify it, you give it place in your heart. You need to remember that Goliath may appear big—but when was the last time you looked at God?

Magnifying God causes your faith to rise up. It brings life to your cells, adds joy to your thought life, changes your perspective and even makes you more compassionate toward others. All of these characteristics and blessings are already yours as a believer because you have the nature of God within you. But now you have to renew your mind. That's where waiting on God comes in.

So get up and rejoice. Decide to praise God. Make your body listen to the Word. Look to Him as the answer just like you look for the rays of the sun after a long night. Waiting on God and magnifying His goodness is what will take you through!
