More Like Jesus Every Day

January 9, 2022

And all of us, as with unveiled face, [because we] continued to behold [in the Word of God] as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendor from one degree of glory to another… 2 Corinthians 3:18 (AMPC)

When you look in the mirror, what do you see?

Second Corinthians 3:15-18 contains a beautiful message. It begins by talking about the veil on the minds and hearts of those who don’t know Jesus, making it impossible for them to understand God’s Word.

But when people begin a relationship with Jesus, “the veil is stripped off and taken away” (v.16, AMPC). They become brand new creations, able to know and understand the truth about God through His Word. They also gain God’s Spirit within them, and He brings freedom (v.17, AMPC).

They are made brand-new and set free, but they are still limited by the beliefs they hold about themselves. This is why we need to renew our minds so our beliefs start to line up with what God says. His Word in us shows how awesome our Saviour Jesus is. But it also says that He is in you!

None of us are perfect. But when we accept Jesus you and I are like Him. If He could do something on Earth, so can you. If He held a certain characteristic, you can develop it too. And as you realize this, you see yourself becoming more like Him.

Each time you look in the mirror this week, remember that Jesus is in you. By getting to know Him, you are becoming more like Him every day!
