NEW ROOTS, NEW FRUIT

October 7, 2022

A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. Luke 6:45 (NKJV)

When you enter a new season—whether it's a promotion at work, starting a family or simply pursuing a dream—you need accompanying new beliefs.

Otherwise, the only way you will manage is through sheer willpower, which is not sustainable. The minute you become tired or pushed beyond your limits, you will revert back to your programmed beliefs. Even if you can maintain willpower for a while, you’ll be in a constant state of turmoil, and whatever change you create won’t last. Why? Because the heart is too powerful to stop.

Picture a tree in your backyard that produces fruit you don’t like. You could spend the rest of your life picking all the fruit off, but it will keep growing back. Yet all it takes is an axe to the roots, and the fruit will stop being produced.

It’s the same with you and me. The only way to handle the new season ahead of you with all its challenges is to deal with your heart beliefs. And how do you know what your beliefs are? It’s very simple. Look at your fruit. A mediocre man brings forth mediocre results from his heart. A successful man brings forth successful results from his heart.

As you do the heart work to understand who God says you are, Holy Spirit will help you establish your identity in every season. When the increases in your family, job or life demand more from you, you’ll be able to handle those new demands with ease—because you know who you are in Christ!
