NEXT-SEASON BELIEFS

October 2, 2022

For this reason we... do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. Colossians 1:9–10 (NKJV)

Over the years of pastoring a growing church and leading a television ministry, I've had many people ask me how I manage it all. They're interested in learning about my systems and strategies. But what got me through seasons of intense growth wasn't management skills. It was my heart beliefs.

At one point when my personal capacity was stretched to the limits, I began to focus only on developing leadership principles and organizational structures. But I quickly realized how empty I became. As my responsibilities continued to grow, I struggled to keep up—even though I was learning management skills. Why was that? It's because in my heart, I couldn't see myself succeeding at that level or leading a megachurch.

Before I could grow and become a better leader, I neededa new picture of my identity. I needed to realize that God's presence flowing through me is what attracts the right staff, touches hearts when I speak and gives me strength for every new challenge.

There are new seasons ahead of you too. But before you can handle them, you will need to create next-season beliefs. Decide to work with Holy Spirit and ask Him to lead you. He can't wait to teach you everything you need to know, giving you "knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding" for your relationships, finances, health and every other area!
