Heaven is a prepared place for a prepared people. It’s not for those who are good enough—otherwise none of us would qualify. It’s for those who have accepted Jesus. That’s why I pray every day for opportunities to reach people.
I remember praying for one of my coworkers back when I was a paramedic. Often I would say, “God, I ask for the spirit of wisdom and revelation upon him, the eyes of his understanding being opened (Ephesians 1:17–18).”
One day he sat down at my desk and said, “Witness to me.” Taken aback, I replied, “Excuse me?” He said he had heard that I witnessed to someone, and he wanted to know about Jesus too. So I shared with him, in a very simple manner, about the hope I have.
In your prayer life, if all you pray about is yourself, then you’re missing out. We need to start praying for the people in our lives and asking God for opportunities to reach out to them.
God has a plan for your kids, your in-laws, your neighbours, even the stranger sitting next to you in the waiting room. So many of us are trying to get miracles in our own lives—and I’m glad He does the miraculous! But let’s start praying, “God, use me today to bring a miracle into someone else's life.”
This is the most exciting way to live, more than you could ever imagine. Through your words and actions of kindness, hearts will be changed and souls will be won for the Kingdom of God!
