PRAY FOR REVELATION

April 13, 2022

Open my eyes to see the wonderful truths in your instructions. Psalm 119:18 (NLT)

Even when you’re in the midst of a storm, you can focus in on God’s grace and realize that the peace and power you’ve needed have been within you all along. Actually, focusing on what Jesus has made available to you is one of the best ways to pray.

You won’t really find begging prayers in the New Testament from the book of Acts and on. You find the disciples speaking to a demonically oppressed person and setting them free. You find them speaking to storms like Jesus did. They lived a unique, new creation type of life that many seem unaware of today.

Prayer changes completely when you realize that you became a new creation in Christ the moment you invited Jesus to be the Lord of your life. You see, as a new creation, you have been given a completely different nature. You’ve become as different as a frog that turned into a lion.

You aren’t limited to just praying for miracles to drop from the sky. That would be like a lion praying for a gazelle to drop from heaven or praying for God to save him from the hyenas that keep attacking him. He’s a lion! Why would a lion sit there waiting for God to do something that God has already empowered him to do?

If a lion is praying for help with something he’s already equipped to do, he needs a revelation. He needs to realize who he is. In the same way, you don’t have to beg God to give you a miracle or plead with Him to help you in some way. Pray instead for an understanding because you need a revelation of who you are!
