Prince of Peace

December 20, 2021

For a child is born to us, a son is given to us... And he will be called…Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6 (NLT)

Over the past two days, we've seen how Jesus wants to guide us in our decisions, how His miraculous power is available to us and how He made it possible for us to be in God's family.

Today, let's look at one of the most well-known names of Jesus: Prince of Peace.

When angels announced His birth, they said, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men” (Luke 2:14, NKJV). Some people mistake this verse to mean peace among men. But when you look around at the world, conflicts and wars still take place every day.

The peace the angels were talking about is actually a peace between us and God. You see, Jesus was born to die for you and me. He took our place on the cross and received all the punishment we deserved. In exchange, we get to receive His gift of forgiveness and grace. If you're a believer, you have complete peace between you and God—because of Jesus.

This peace He brings isn't just a passing emotion, it's a spiritual force. As you grow in the Word and get a revelation of who Jesus is, His peace erupts into your life. It supersedes your emotions and keeps you steady even when life pulls the rug out from under you.

This Christmas season, whether you're dealing with a busy schedule, a family conflict or the aftermath of a tragedy, I encourage you to pause. Spend some time with Jesus today before you do anything else. As your Prince of Peace, He gives you a peace beyond anything this world can offer.
