SOME HAVE ALL THE LUCK

May 14, 2022

“God’s kingdom is like seed thrown on a field by a man who then goes to bed and forgets about it. The seed sprouts and grows—he has no idea how…When the grain is fully formed, he reaps—harvest time!” Mark 4:26-29 (MSG)

Are some people just plain lucky? Some business leaders always seem to meet the right people at the perfect time to solve their staffing problems. Other people seem to have all the relationship luck. The first person they meet is “Mr. or Mrs. Right.” How could they be so lucky?

Actually, I don’t believe in luck. In our verses today, Jesus teaches us how things really work.

You have pictures in your heart about how the world works. Some of those pictures came from your upbringing; others came from friends, teachers and media. Each picture produces a result, just as a seed sprouts up from the ground and produces a plant.

When a picture of what it means to be a great spouse gets into your heart and you act on that picture, you produce a great marriage. When you see yourself prospering and you apply principles of great leadership, you succeed. But when you have incorrect ideas about certain areas of your life, that area suffers.

Instead of being jealous of people who seem to be luckier than you, guard your heart against wrong beliefs.

If you’re struggling in your marriage, it may not be because you picked the wrong spouse. God’s plans for you are good and He will help you build a future together if you’re both willing to fight for God’s best.

Plant God’s beliefs in your heart for every area of life by meditating on what He says you can have. If you are patient, you will receive it.
