For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 2 Corinthians 10:3 (NKJV)
Many people have the wrong idea about spiritual warfare.
They think the answer to their prayers lies with fighting the devil and that their healing will come if they can just fight off his attacks. They also think that the devil is blocking them from prospering financially or preventing their marriage from thriving or stopping their kids from serving Jesus. So they bind the devil and fight his attacks every day.
Not only is this approach exhausting and ineffective, but it’s not even Biblical. We need to remember that Jesus defeated the devil more than 2,000 years ago.
Second Corinthians 10:3–4 says there’s a war going on, but it’s not a physical war. We’re not fighting demonic powers that have control over certain cities or countries. The devil is already defeated, so spiritual warfare can’t be about fighting the devil! It is real though, so you need to know what it is and how to do it.
Since the devil is a defeated enemy, all he has left are tricks and schemes. He has no real power. He just tries to get you consumed with fighting off attacks that aren’t even there so you are prevented from doing what will actually make a difference in your life—and the lives of those around you.
This war has much more to do with your thoughts and beliefs, but we’ll discuss this in more depth over the next few days. You’re going to get a firm understanding of how to fight and win, because you have weapons for fighting this war, and they are mighty!
