Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God. 2 Corinthians 10:5 (KJV)
You have imaginations running through your head—little movies you play out throughout your day—and many times they are not based on truth. If you’re dealing with a serious illness, you might go so far as to imagine your funeral. Your eyes may tear up as you picture your loved ones’ reactions or as you think about who will look after them when you’re gone. These little snippets reveal what you believe about your future.
If you allow your mind to daydream about a vision that goes against what God has promised you, you’re developing a stronghold within your mind. These strongholds can become so ingrained deep within you that you believe them to be certain truth and, if left unchecked, they will help to form your future.
Second Corinthians 10:5 says that you have to cast down these imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God—His provision and promises. In other words, if a vision for your future opposes what God has promised every believer, then you need to kick that vision to the curb.
Instead of imagining the worst-case scenario, imagine health and healing, life without limitation. Picture yourself full of energy and joy and let hope rise in you.
There’s a war going on between your two ears—a warring of conflicting beliefs—so plant the truth in your heart! Meditate on God’s Word. Imagine yourself as the person God says you are and having what He says you can have. Then, you’ll begin to produce a phenomenal harvest!
