Stop the Blame Game

January 8, 2022

[Inasmuch as we] refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God; and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ… 2 Corinthians 10:5 (AMPC)

When people face storms and difficulties in life, they often fail to look within to overcome it. It’s so much easier to point the blame outwardly at other people and circumstances. But the blame game only leads to a long list of excuses—and an even longer period of time remaining stuck.

Actually, your ability to change and move up to a new level isn’t limited by people or circumstances. The biggest battle you face takes place within you.

Our verse today highlights this internal battle. Inside, you may form arguments against your ability to move forward. Inside, you doubt yourself and come up with reasons why you can’t achieve your goals. Inside, your thoughts threaten to contain and control you, keeping you stuck in defeat. But all of this can change.

Wage war against those thoughts by finding out what God says. For example, if you feel stuck, Colossians 2:9-10 says that you are complete in your union with Christ, who is the head over all. Believing this truth is how you wage war against any theories you may have about why you can’t achieve more. It’s how you fight the picture of defeat you hold within you, and it helps you get a vision for your success.

Get a new picture of yourself—an inner image that is confident and determined. Rattle the cages and break past every barrier in your head. Jesus is in you and nothing can stop you from moving on to do greater things!
