“God is a Spirit (a spiritual Being) and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth (reality).” John 4:24 (AMPC)
In the Old Testament, people made all sorts of sacrifices in the name of worship. Today, worship is much simpler because of Jesus. He bridged the gap between you and God. Once you have accepted Jesus into your life, you don’t need to fulfill any other requirement to experience a relationship with Him.
Now, worship becomes a choice. You do it for no other reason than to serve God and get to know Him better.
So, what is worship supposed to look like? Sometimes it can be an emotional experience. Some people feel God’s presence in an amazing way when they’re worshipping. For others, worship is less moving but just as real. They love God and praise Him with all their heart, but they don’t have an outpouring of emotions. One way isn’t better than the other. Just like every marriage or friendship is different, your relationship with God is unique too. That means the experience you have when you worship Him is also unique and personal.
Everything you do can be an act of worship. Attending church and following your traditional ways of worship is great, but it’s not the only time and place for worshipping God. You can honour Him in everything you do. Whether you’re hanging out with your children, doing housework or working at the office, thank God for who He is and ask Him for wisdom as you go about your day.
Worship Him not because He needs it, but because of His awesome grace and love for you. Remember, God loves you deeply and personally, and He wants to help you live an amazing life.
