WALK IN THE POWER YOU’VE BEEN GIVEN

April 7, 2022

Don’t lie to eachother, for you have stripped off your old sinful nature and all its wickeddeeds. Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creatorand become like him. Colossians 3:9–10 (NLT)

Are you living like the child of God you are?

Somewhere along theway, you may have picked up the belief that you need to beg God for everything. You may have been taught to see yourself as a weak, lowly sinner who needs tofast, pray and plead with God to try to make Him feel sorry for you. It’s not true. You are to live like the child of a King that you are!

It’s not that fastingis useless, but often we misunderstand what fasting is for. Fasting doesn’tbring on miracles. Although Jesus told the disciples there was a certain kindof spirit that would only come out through fasting and prayer, we have toremember that Jesus said this before the cross, and times have changed. We nowhave the Spirit of God living inside each of us, so we don’t have to beg, pleador otherwise try to earn God’s help in any situation. His power is already within each of us.

I’m not saying thatyou don’t need to pray; just pray with a “new-creation mindset.” You are not asinner. That sin nature died within you the day you gave your life to Jesus. You’re now a new creation with the nature of God within you. ThroughChrist, you’re powerful and you have abilities far beyond what you may realize.

Take off that old selfand put on the new by owning who you really are. Then walk in the power you’vebeen given.
