What Are You?

For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ. Romans 5:17 (NKJV)

You’re designed to reign in life through Jesus. To reign is to rule like a king—and what does a king do? He makes decrees. Whatever he says is law.

As a believer, your words hold the power to cause change in the physical, spiritual, mental and emotional realms. This is why it’s crucial that you confess God’s Word over your life.

Yesterday we looked at the importance of declaring who you are in Christ. Now let’s take a look at what you are. There’s some overlap between the two, but I want to show you the kind of life God has promised you.

So, what are you as a believer?

• You’re free from the law of sin and death (Romans 8:2).
• You are healed (1 Peter 2:24).
• You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you (Philippians 4:13).
• You’re more than a conqueror (Romans 8:37).
• When you resist the devil, he runs from you in terror (James 4:7).

You may feel beaten down by your circumstances. But look at what today’s verse says: “Those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.”

What a stunning confession! Begin to declare this over your situation today. Because of Jesus, you are righteous and empowered by an overflowing abundance of His grace. You have everything you need to reign like a king or queen in your health, finances, emotions and every area of life!
