WHAT DO YOU KNOW?

July 6, 2022

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Hosea 4:6 (NKJV)

Some people say, “What you don’t know won’t hurt you.” But today’s scripture doesn’t agree. For example, to walk around not knowing or denying the devil exists is like strolling on a busy freeway, proclaiming, “There are no such things as vehicles. I don’t believe in semi-trucks.”

Does what we know or believe matter? Of course! If you don’t know or consider that vehicles exist and you wander onto the freeway, you won’t last long. A semi-truck will take you out because you lack knowledge or believe in a lie.

The same principle applies when it comes to God’s Word in our lives. If we don’t know His truths and aren’t confidently rooted in His promises for us, we can become vulnerable to falling for Satan’s lies. And he’ll gladly take advantage of us any way he can. His goal is to intentionally mislead us in order to hurt or take us out altogether. (See 1 Peter 5:8 and John 10:10.)

Fortunately, God gave us His Word, which is a rich, powerful source of knowledge. You see, God’s Word shines a light on all that Christ gained for us through the cross. As believers, it tells us our incredible inheritance and future as God’s loved and forgiven children. It instructs us in His wisdom and knowledge so that we are not in the dark but have the truth.

The world promotes this idea of, “Believe whatever you want as long as you believe in something.” Don’t be fooled—you must understand and believe God’s truths to live victoriously.

Knowing and believing what He says will open your eyes to recognize the enemy’s deceitfulness and help prevent you from getting hurt or wiped out. That’s why knowledge is power!
