Now he uses us to spread the knowledge of Christ everywhere, like a sweet perfume. 2 Corinthians 2:14 (NLT)
There is something about God’s Word continually working in our lives and renewing our minds that makes us attractive to other people.
Second Corinthians 2:15 (NLT) says, “Our lives are a Christ-like fragrance rising up to God.” Isn’t that a beautiful image?
It reminds me of my wife, who will kiss me on the way out the door and then often say something like, “Wow, what are you wearing? You smell good!”
There is something about a pleasing aroma that attracts those around us. When somebody begins to know God and grow closer in their relationship with Him, it’s as though a sweet scent begins to emanate from their life. You can sense it in that person’s marriage. You can see their kids thriving in the harmony and love that flows from it. The way they deal kindly and fairly with others is appealing.
When you’re around them, they have an attractiveness that draws you in and makes you wonder, “What is it about this person?” There is a discernable joy and peace within them, and best of all, it radiates outward to others.
Now, we live in a fallen world. But that doesn’t mean we have to submit to the enemy’s attacks on our minds or accept his lies.
You can choose to renew your mind in Christ consistently. Make it a habit to meditate on a few verses every day to keep your heart and mind revitalized. As you do, it will bring forward the beautiful aroma of knowing Jesus that those around you will want too.
