But the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. John 14:26 (AMPC)
Holy Spirit is not critical of you.
In John 14:26, Holy Spirit is not referred to as the judge, faultfinder, nitpicker, condemner or hyper-critic! Actually, this better describes Satan who is known as “the accuser” (Job 1:6, Proverbs 15:11 and Revelation 12:10, AMP).
Some believers listen to their negative thinking all day long. Their minds are filled with “I should have,” “I shouldn’t have,” and “What’s wrong with me?” statements. The worst part is they accept the condemnation coming at them because they think it’s from God.
In reality, these negative thoughts are likely just coming from their own hearts because of the misbeliefs they hold. When they do wrong, they feel like they’ve let God down and think He’s pulling away from them, but it’s not true.
Holy Spirit is your comforter. He’s on your side and He empowers you to overcome and love life. More than anything, He wants a relationship with you. He is the Spirit of your loving heavenly Dad who wants nothing but the best for you!
If you ever feel that condemning thoughts are taking over your head space, remind yourself of who you are in Christ. Say things like: “I am a child of God!” (Romans 8:16); “I am right with God because of Jesus!” (2 Corinthians 5:21); and “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!” (Philippians 4:13).
