Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. Romans 12:2 (NLT)
Do you keep attracting what you don’t want in life?
You hold beliefs deep inside you that influence how you feel about yourself and what you think you’re capable of doing in life. If certain negative circumstances seem to follow you wherever you go, it may be time to plant some new heart beliefs.
I’m not saying that every negative circumstance that happens to you is a result of your beliefs. Some things just happen in this imperfect world. But… if you find that the same things keep happening to you, it’s worth looking into.
First, find out what God promises you for the area that you struggle with. Then, examine what you’re allowing yourself to think about. Because the thoughts that you allow to circulate in your mind will eventually get into your heart. This is why it’s vital that you interrupt negative thinking.
God promises you healing, so stop picturing your funeral. Instead, daydream about life without sickness. God says you can live with joy, so don’t entertain thoughts about staying trapped in depression. This will only strengthen the negative belief in your heart. If you try but you can’t stop fixating on the negative, you may need to get some extra support from a doctor or counsellor, but you can also meditate on God’s promise of a great future and imagine yourself laughing again.
It may seem difficult to break your thought habits at first, but you can do it! You have the mind of Christ. You can develop new thought habits that build your faith in God’s promises.
